Artist Statement

Art has always been about making the invisible visible—now we're just using different tools to dig deeper into the same human mysteries. Working with AI doesn't make me less of an artist; it makes me a different kind of archaeologist, excavating truths from the collision between human intention and machine interpretation. I'm drawn to the spaces where control breaks down, where my vision meets the AI's logic and something unexpected emerges. That tension—between what I want and what the system gives me—mirrors the same tension that's always existed between artist and medium. The clay doesn't always cooperate either. What's true for me now is that authenticity isn't about the purity of the process; it's about the honesty of the intent. I use AI like a scalpel for surrealism, cutting through the obvious to find those uncomfortable truths that make people squirm and lean in simultaneously. The machine amplifies my eye for the absurd, but it can't manufacture the human impulse to poke at what hurts. In this moment of fluid boundaries, I'm interested in creating work that feels both alien and intimate—images that could only exist now, in this strange intersection of human weirdness and artificial intelligence.

AI Art experience

AI opens up wild new possibilities for creativity. It lets me experiment in ways I couldn’t before, mixing tech with traditional processes to stretch my artistic expression.

Personal experience

My experiences drive the balance in my work—control versus unpredictability. AI enhances that push and pull, reflecting both sides.

Unexpected thought

That randomness often feels more intentional than my own choices.

Description

I aimed to create a bold, memorable image that's simple yet striking, designed to evoke discomfort. There’s a quirky, humorous side to it that enhances its oddness. The interplay between the burning candle and the hand with the SAFEWAY tag explores product safety, revealing a strange duality. It’s about provoking thought and encouraging viewers to reflect on the oddities of our interactions with everyday objects.

Process

I explore the absurd and awkward in my AI work, merging portraiture with unexpected elements. I focus on distinctive flair, avoiding typical AI traits. I create simple yet expressive compositions by combining minimalist settings with vibrant colours. Infused with humour and a touch of the peculiar, my work sparks curiosity while maintaining a quirky narrative.
