Artist Statement

Right now, to me the vanguard of art is beyond the realm of the physicality. And I make emphasis on the vanguard, because there's thousands of art manifestations, but what it is art in this era? In the age of imagination art is in your mind's eye; art is in your essence and how you experience reality. Generative AI helps us break the barrier between imagination and manifestation, our clumsy fingers are no longer chained by the lack of dexterity, more and more the models are going to be easier to use and more accessible to all, challenging the uniqueness of the born genius and the exceptionalism of humanity as a so-called perfect creation of God. My concern is in what it seems to be a corporate powered art, where access to the best and more complex models is now gated by a monthly fee. And the art we see is becoming a snapshot of a certain group of people, us. The ones that have the means to access, to pay. I hope soon, in the near future, open-source models and shanzhai culture can develop and give free access to high end models to all.

AI Art experience

The infinite possibilities of expression. Leavening behind the skill factor, art becomes more about what you are, what you believe in, your essence.

Personal experience

Along the way in my artist career, I have been switching constantly from medium to medium. This made easy to me to engage with generative AI, the same way within generative tools I don't get trapped by the feeling that I must stay in a certain style, which would be a waste giving the array of creative possibilities.

Unexpected thought

I love the idea that generative art puts in the spotlight the fact that we humans are not as specials as we think. We are replaceable. And I like that sense of humility. Artificial intelligence is surpassing us even in creativity and ingenuity. This poses a big existential question mark that forces us again to rethink what art really is, and what is our actual place in this universe.

Description

It is the feel of a post-apocalyptic 1950´s, of the likes of Fallout. It has a lot of what Philip K. Dicks "The Man on The High Castle" makes me feel, and he's woman with black hair that comes to tell you mind-blowing facts about your reality. A strange nostalgia for a future that never was.

Process

I spend so much time curating generations, details, fingers, shadows, expressions. Sometimes leading to a dead-end. It is about patients, and about knowing what I want and what I like. I try to let go of the ego, the "I made this" and focus on the I like, the This makes me feel something, this is talking to me.

Tools

I am obsessed with the concept of Raw AI. I do not alter, enhance or change anything of the art I generate with tools software nor filters. Right now, I use Midjourney, and the features that I find within it. I like the constrain of the single tool. Can I master it? I don't want to cave to the pressure put on us to prove that "this is more than AI". I want to prove that just AI can bring amazing results.
