Artist Statement

I want to see things I've never seen before. I want to feel in new ways if possible too. I want to play and be surprised. I want to confuse. It tickles my brain. It's in the liminal space between my intention and machine's unpredictable interpretation. It's also in the space between photorealism and surreal or abstract distortion. While ratio of those are precisely adjustable. Like when objects are almost recognisable but not just yet. Or when AI model injected with juxtaposed images generates something unexpectedly bizarre while trying to make coherent connection between them. The unpredictability isn't a bug—it's the medium itself. My role is less about creating something specific and more about creating conditions where something remarkable can emerge from the dialogue between human intuition and computational processes. Maybe all in pursuit to recreate that moment when disintegration of person’s visual field leads to realisation that perception is a controlled hallucination..

Description

Slow, almost still decay as an aftermath of mega scale consumption. Post-apocalyptic entropy in action. Failed systems being neglected and then discarded.

Process

I don't know why I am attracted to images of decay, grotesque amount of waste and disorder. 70's New York is my favourite aesthetic for some reason. Using those sophisticated new tools in such a way just feels appropriate. Maybe it's an reaction to most of AI art being sterile, polished and pretty. Embracing generative, chaotic aspect of this medium is the only way I can get invested in it. Or I simply see beauty in uglyness..

Tools

Image was created with Stable Diffusion SDXL model locally hosted (PC computer) in Python environment with ComfyUI interface. A photograph, an image and prompt has been combined together with help of IPAdapters and ControlNets during denoising process.
