Afterglow

Afterglow at Zimmermannhaus Brugg brings together Esther Hunziker and Victoria Holdt, whose practices revolve around tension, ambivalence and fragile balances. The exhibition juxtaposes sculptural and spatial works with AI‑generated video portraits of people who do not exist, staging a field of friction between human presence and machine imagination.

In Afterglow, Zimmermannhaus Brugg presents two artistic positions that both orbit around states of instability and in‑between conditions. Victoria Holdt’s sculptural and spatial interventions test fragile constellations, provisional architectures and the shifting line between protection and exposure. Her installations stage moments where surfaces, materials and supports seem at once solid and on the verge of collapse.

Esther Hunziker’s contribution moves between human intention and machine creativity by working with AI‑generated video portraits of people who do not exist. These faces appear familiar yet artificial, opening questions about identity, authenticity and how machines learn to fabricate presence. Together, the works in afterglow trace the charged zone where human and machinic agencies overlap, probing how images, bodies and spaces are constructed, stabilised and unsettled in the glow after technological change.
