AND PRAXIS has no curatorial selection. It grew out of The Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of New Media Art, Volume II: Artists and Practice, edited by Paul Thomas, who developed the exhibition with Vicente Matallana and Jaime de los Ríos. Each artist chose one work, sometimes remastered, on one condition: it had to run plug and play and travel through the cloud. The works share one immersive environment of screens and can also be seen up close.
Monika Fleischmann and Wolfgang Strauss present video documentation of Mind Circuits, an AI dialogue system first staged as a live, participatory event. At its premiere on 6 May 2026 in the 360-degree dome of the Wisdome at Universeum in Gothenburg, four AI personas shaped by the thinking of Vilém Flusser, Paul Virilio, Joseph Weizenbaum and Peter Weibel debated while the audience asked questions and redirected the conversation. The work builds on their 1990 virtual reality installation Home of the Brain.
"Can a thinking space encourage us to question not just how technology functions, but the realities it reinforces?” the artists ask.
Jane Prophet shows herbAIrium, Jon McCormack the generative software work Niche Constructions (2nd Edition), and Paul Brown the generative kinetic painting Double Dragon.
The opening on 22 October includes the symposium Preserving the Pioneers and Paul Sermon’s telematic performance Homo Telematicus. The exhibition is dedicated to Vicente Matallana, who died in July 2026.
