Continuum brings together five artists whose practices span the histories and futures of software-based and generative art, each occupying a distinct environment within the space: Daniel Canogar, Nat Decker, Aurora Mititelu, Casey Reas, and Sarah Rothberg.
The exhibition coincides with bitforms gallery's 25th anniversary and traces an intergenerational continuum in media art, from pioneering figures to emerging voices. Casey Reas, who co-developed Processing in 2001 with Ben Fry, brings works from his Amplified Technical Image and Earthly Delights series. Sarah Rothberg presents Sophie For You (2023), a custom software work alongside related prints from her ongoing Sophie project, which explores AI, large language models, and human-machine intimacy. Daniel Canogar presents Iconoclast (2026), a new work within his long-standing engagement with generative algorithms and data. Aurora Mititelu, based in New York, works with computer images and AI to examine how computational media constructs perception and identity. Nat Decker, based in Los Angeles, uses digital 3D software to explore queer and disabled lived experience, tracing connections between body and technology.
