For ArtVerse’s inaugural programming project during Art Paris Week, “du savoir‑rêve” introduces a new body of work by aurèce vettier conceived specifically for the gallery’s Marais space. Extending the momentum of a recent presentation at the Musée d’art contemporain de Lyon, the exhibition continues the artist’s investigation into how AI‑generated imagery can be translated into richly material, handcrafted forms.
At the heart of “du savoir‑rêve” lies the notion of savoir‑rêve (dream‑knowledge): a mode of perception that emerges when images remain unstable, incomplete and open to projection. Rather than providing fixed narratives, the works invite viewers to inhabit a space where meaning is constantly renegotiated between what is seen and what is imagined.
As curator Dominique Moulon writes,
“the image is organized around partially undecided zones, restrained depths, and incomplete visibility… engaging the notion of savoir‑rêve (dream‑knowledge): a knowledge formed through contact with unstable images, accepting the unfinished as a condition of perception.”
To construct this terrain, aurèce vettier develops proprietary generative AI models trained on personal childhood archives and botanical datasets, forming a “potential herbarium” of speculative plants and fragmented recollections. These immaterial structures are then channelled into collaboration with master artisans, who give them tactile presence through oil painting, bronze cast with the bois perdu (“lost‑wood”) technique, and Aubusson tapestry. The resulting constellation of works folds together algorithmic processes and traditional savoir‑faire, positioning the exhibition as a laboratory for new relationships between image, memory and materiality.
