StarPower, a generative software-based solo exhibition by Maya Man at bitforms gallery in New York City from March 19 to May 2, 2026, uses AI-generated performers and AI-video models to explore youth competitive dance, internet identity culture, femininity, authenticity, and the performance of self.
The exhibition draws on Maya Man’s own background in youth competitive dance to construct an environment where lived memory intersects with synthetic simulation. Within this installation, shifting sequences and confession-style monologues echo the structure of reality television formats like Dance Moms, emphasizing how femininity, vulnerability, ambition, and selfhood are staged and shaped by both competitive spectacle and algorithmic systems.
