Ceres Gallery presents MIGRATIONS: Soul Memories • Neomythist Prophecies, a two-person exhibition by Rae Broyles and Faedriel that brings painting, photography, sculpture, poetry, video, and AI-collaborative imagery together around the histories AI's training data leaves out.
Artificial intelligence is trained on humanity's accumulated images, language, and recorded history. MIGRATIONS asks what happens to the knowledge that was never recorded, and to the voices history pushed to its margins.
Rae Broyles' work draws on the landscapes and cultural history of northern Norway, including Norwegianization and the suppression of Sámi language and cultural expression. Here, a gap in a dataset reflects specific histories, languages, and knowledge that were deliberately pushed from the record.
Faedriel's work develops Neomythism, a practice of human-AI collaborative myth-making in which meaning grows through an ongoing exchange between human and machine. Neomythism asks what identities, stories, and imagined worlds can emerge from that relationship, and who will shape them.
Throughout the exhibition, machine-collaborative imagery sits beside paint, wax, sculpture, photography, and moving image made by hand. The exhibition asks how the histories humanity has preserved, and those it has erased, will shape the intelligence being built now.
