Rachel Maclean presents They've Got Your Eyes at Sonica Festival, a film built from AI models trained on her own image and archive, commissioned jointly by Sonica Glasgow and FACT Liverpool.
"A thrilling first for Sonica, we are proud to present two major commissions from the visionary Rachel Maclean and the remarkable Martin Green," says Cathie Boyd, Cryptic's founding Artistic Director.
Rachel Maclean trained the models solely on her own previous works and likeness, generating backgrounds with AI tools including FLUX and Wan 2.2 inside ComfyUI, with support from BRAID (Bridging Responsible AI Divides) at Edinburgh College of Art. The work draws a parallel between the current AI boom and Victorian-era invention, following a self-styled engineer whose pursuit of technological progress curdles into rivalry and obsession.
They've Got Your Eyes is one of Sonica's first-ever commissioned works, alongside Martin Green's Folding Songs, and was shown earlier in 2026 at FACT Liverpool before this presentation.
