Unseen Forces 1.0

Unseen Forces 1.0 is an experimental digital exhibition at The Generative Museum, bringing together works from the KADIST collection and thirteen private Pittsburgh collections, curated in real time using generative AI.

Unseen Forces 1.0 is presented as an experimental gallery within The Generative Museum, a digital initiative launched by ICA Pittsburgh in collaboration with the nonprofit organization KADIST and scenography by EPOCH. The exhibition allows users to create prototype exhibitions in real time by submitting prompts; an AI platform developed by WeDoData interprets these and assembles artworks from a database of over 1,000 works from the KADIST collection and more than 175 works from thirteen private collections in Pittsburgh.

The system uses interpretive writing and descriptive texts accompanying each artwork. Based on the prompts provided by users, the language model groups works by association and places them onto three virtual gallery walls. Many included works are rarely exhibited publicly due to their private ownership.

The exhibition also features long-term presentations of digital work by Morehshin Allahyari, Holly Herndon & Mathew Dryhurst, Joe Namy, and Ahmet Ögüt.

The Generative Museum is accessible internationally and is best experienced on desktop.
