What if we could not only imagine the future, but actively shape it?
As a part of the expansive Foto Wien 2025 festival, the "What If..." exhibition presents the work of ten photographers embarking on speculative journeys. Through photography, video installations, and AI-generated visual worlds, the artists design alternative realities that explore utopian, dystopian, or strikingly contemporary scenarios.
Curated by Sydney Dalscheid & Sophie M. Hollerweger, the exhibition challenges familiar ways of thinking by posing questions such as, "What if our most hidden thoughts were visible?" or "What if a crafted reality deceived us?" The selected works create a tension between naturalness and artificial aesthetics, with some scenarios feeling futuristic and others disturbingly close.
The exhibition is hosted in the mid-century showroom of OHNE BUTTER x STUDIO SENZA, a space that embodies sustainability and openness to new perspectives.
