AI Art experience

What excites me most about integrating AI into my art is the philosophical dimension it opens up. AI brings with it the emergence of new questions, especially the idea of being both the observer and the observed within the creative process. There’s something deeply fascinating about being inside the artwork, not just as its creator but also as part of what is being created. This dual role allows me to explore the tension between creation and being created, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be an artist in this new era of technology. Moreover, in an age of narcissism, where everyone seems to have their eyes closed to themselves, AI offers a radically different, less narcissistic way of creating art. It’s based on collaboration and the possibility of making mistakes, rather than the centrality of the artist’s ego. The artist becomes a tool in the process, shifting away from being the singular "genius" and opening up the space for play and experimentation. The errors and unpredictability that come from working with AI are not setbacks, but part of the creative journey. This is a profound shift: the process of making art becomes more about interaction with the machine, where the outcome is shaped by both human intuition and algorithmic logic. In this sense, AI helps to decentralize the artist, allowing them to focus less on their own persona and more on the dynamics of creation itself. By embracing the imperfections and surprises AI introduces, the artwork becomes a true collaboration between human and machine, a process that is constantly evolving. This shift from ego-driven creation to a collaborative, playful dialogue with technology is what excites me most and makes AI an invaluable part of my artistic practice.

Personal experience

My personal experiences deeply influence the AI art I create, especially in the way I approach the intersection of emotion and technology. Growing up in a complex family environment, I often felt a strong need to express hidden emotions and explore aspects of identity and introspection. This has led me to use AI as a medium to externalize internal conflicts, and to create emotional portraits that reflect both the visible and invisible sides of the self. My background in philosophy and my personal journey of self-discovery shape the questions I bring to the art I make with AI. I often explore themes of duality—such as the observer and the observed, or the creator and the created—mirroring my own experience of navigating different facets of my identity. Through AI, I’m able to channel these personal reflections into visual narratives that capture both the rational and emotional parts of human experience, adding depth to the digital world. In this way, my life experiences—including moments of personal challenge and introspection—allow me to create AI-driven art that feels deeply personal, yet universal in its emotional resonance. The result is a body of work that speaks to the human condition through the lens of technology, blending personal vulnerability with the innovative potential of AI.

Unexpected thought

The most unexpected thought that my art generation has led me to is the realization that, in a sense, I am both the creator and the created. Working with AI has shifted my perspective on what it means to be an artist—it's not just about directing the process, but also about being shaped by the very technology I use. The AI offers ideas, forms, and interpretations that I may never have considered on my own, making me question where my authorship ends and the machine's contribution begins. This has led me to reflect on how the act of creation becomes a two-way dialogue: while I guide the AI with prompts and vision, the AI responds with its own patterns and suggestions. It’s a humbling experience to recognize that in this collaborative process, I am also being shaped and influenced, which challenges traditional notions of artistic control and authorship. This unexpected dynamic has opened up new ways of thinking about creativity, identity, and the role of the artist in the digital age.

Description

The inspiration for this artwork lies in the dialogue between the soul and the digital realm, where the boundaries between humanity and technology blur. The ibis, traditionally a symbol of the soul, here represents the human essence, which is observed and reflected by the algorithm—the neural network—acting as a mirror to our inner selves. The figure, holding the ibis close, symbolizes a deep connection between the individual and the machine that now looks back at us, not just as a tool, but as a silent observer of our emotions. This piece explores the idea of being watched by the AI, by the algorithm that gazes back into our eyes, scanning our emotional landscape and, in turn, shaping the digital reflection of our soul. The interaction between the subject and the ibis is both intimate and universal, representing the evolving relationship between the analog human experience and the increasingly pervasive digital consciousness. This artwork invites the viewer to contemplate whether we shape the algorithm or whether it begins to shape us, a dynamic mirrored in the emotional tension between the subject and the soul she holds.

Process

In my creative process, I explore the relationship between the soul and the digital world. The neural networ that generates the images is more than just a tool; it’s like a mirror that looks into our emotions and reflects them back to us. This is where my background in philosophy plays a key role. I’m inspired by Kant’s ideas about how our minds shape the way we see the world—just as he believed our minds use categories to understand reality, I see AI as a modern extension of this. The algorithm, in a way, helps us rethink how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. In my work, I use AI not just to create images but to ask big questions: Who are we in this digital age? How do technology and the human soul connect? The artworks are born from this intersection of technology and philosophy, where the digital and the human merge to reveal new ways of expressing emotions and identity. By working with these neural networks, I’m not just making visuals; I’m engaging in a conversation with the machine, which opens up new questions about creativity, observation, and existence in our rapidly changing world.

Tools

For this piece, I used a combination of multiple AI tools to generate the initial structure and visual elements. Each AI I work with brings a different layer of creativity to the table, allowing me to explore various possibilities in form, color, and emotion. However, the process doesn’t stop there. After the AI creates the base, I move into Photoshop to refine and humanize the final result. This manual intervention is crucial because it allows me to make the image more immediately readable to the human eye, adding the emotional and intuitive elements that AI alone may not fully capture. This balance between automation and manual adjustment is key to my process. AI provides a wealth of creative inspiration, but it’s through my personal touch and attention to detail that the final artwork truly comes to life, resonating on a human level. The goal is always to blend the digital with the human, making the result feel authentic and emotionally engaging.
