The Great Recalibration:
"From Prompt to Result: The New Authorship"

The era of the solitary genius is hitting a dead end.
The era of the solitary genius is hitting a dead end.For decades, design has been a monologue—the autonomous creator versus the blank canvas. But we’ve entered the Peri-AI Era, and the paradigm is shifting. We are moving from manual form-giving to a high-frequency, synergetic conversation between biological intuition and machine calculation. In the „Synthetic Studio,“ the boundary between human impulse and algorithmic output doesn‘t just blur—it vanishes.
The Epicenter: WDC Campus
This transformation takes center stage at the World Design Capital — WDC Campus. Spanning over 1,500 m² at the Museum Angewandte Kunst (including the massive Workshop Hub), the Campus is the largest event of the entire WDC year.
The Deep Dive: Dialogue Lab
As part of our series of Dialogue Labs—dynamic formats ranging from intimate workshop talks to 200-person sessions—we present:
On May 20th, we’re deconstructing this new authorship. Alongside AI pioneers Boris Eldagsen and Christoph Grünberger, we’re exploring why the future of design isn‘t about „using“ AI, but about co-evolving with it.
From Craft to Curation: The designer is no longer just the hands; they are the director of complex ideation processes and the curatorial voice behind hybrid results.
The Feedback Loop: Creativity is becoming an iterative dance between human gut feeling and neural processing power.
Sovereignty 2.0: Understanding technology not as a mere utility, but as a constitutive element of a new sociotechnical aesthetic. The question isn’t whether AI will replace the designer. The question is: Are you ready to stop being a soloist and start being a conductor?

Speaker

Christoph Grünberger, The Age of Data
Christoph Grünberger
Author, speaker, generative design
@christophgruenberger
‍Christoph Grünberger studied Communication Design at the Nuremberg Institute of Technology Georg Simon Ohm.‍

From 2022 to 2026, he shaped the technological direction of the Jung von Matt group as Head of AI / Principal AI & Art. Before that, he worked for more than 20 years as a freelance art director for renowned agencies. With his standard-setting publications “Analog Algorithm” and “The Age of Data”, he established himself as a leading thinker in generative design. He teaches at international universities and is a co-founder of The AI Art Magazine.

As a sought-after expert on the symbiosis of code and creativity, he actively helps shape the discourse on AI within the design industry (OFFF, ADC, mouvo, …). He lives and works in southern Germany.
